Houston, the culinary capital of Texas, is set to welcome a wave of delectable dining experiences in 2024. As the city continues to evolve as a gastronomic haven, several exciting establishments are poised to tantalize taste buds and elevate Houston’s food scene to new heights.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the upcoming restaurant openings that are sure to make a splash:

Azumi: A Japanese haven in River Oaks District

Atlas Restaurant Group, the masterminds behind Marmo and Loch Bar, are adding a touch of modern Japanese elegance to Houston’s River Oaks District with Azumi. Scheduled to open its doors in spring 2023, Azumi promises a sophisticated dining experience at 4444 Westheimer Rd. Translating to “safe harbor,” Azumi aims to provide a haven of style, comfort, and warmth. Renowned designer Patrick Sutton is set to transform the former Ouzo Bay space, creating a chic main dining room, sushi bar, and an intimate omakase tasting room. The indoor/outdoor main bar, with terrace seating, completes the picture, offering a blend of indoor luxury and outdoor charm.

Blossom Houston’s MoLiHua: A culinary oasis in the Medical Center

Blossom Houston, a luxury hotel in the heart of the Medical Center, is set to launch its first restaurant concept, MoLiHua. Helmed by Michelin-Starred Chef Ho Chee Boon, MoLiHua, meaning ‘jasmine’ in Chinese, will offer sushi, dim sum, and divine desserts on the hotel’s second floor. This culinary gem is one of three concepts Chef Boon will unveil in the 16-story boutique luxury hotel.

The Pit Room - Memorial City: Barbecue bliss in the West

The Pit Room, a beloved barbecue joint in Houston, is expanding its reach with a second location at 10301 Katy Freeway in Memorial City. Set to open in the spring of 2024, this new Pit Room promises a larger kitchen, an expansive 2,610-square-foot patio, a homemade sausage grinding station, and an ice cream sandwich bar. Barbecue enthusiasts can rejoice as they indulge in the tender, Central Texas-style barbecue that has made The Pit Room a local favorite.

Mandito’s Tex-Mex - Katy: A fiesta for the senses

Following a successful opening in Bellaire, Mandito’s Tex-Mex from Palacios Murphy is gearing up to launch its third location in Katy. Located at 9910 Gaston Rd. Suite 200, this cantina-style restaurant will offer the same scratch-made menu featuring tantalizing items like tacos al carbon, fajitas, grilled seafood dishes, and their World-Famous Burrito Bowl. With an extensive cocktail menu and a larger to-go station, Mandito’s Tex-Mex in Katy promises a feast for the senses.

The Pizza Place: Houston’s newest pizza paradise

According to Eater Houston, Shawn Bermudez and Chef Matthew Pak, the creative minds behind local favorites like the Burger Joint and the Taco Stand, are venturing into the pizza realm with their latest venture – The Pizza Place.

Located at 2124 North Shepherd Dr., across from Katz’s, The Pizza Place aims to provide a laid-back dining experience with a menu featuring house-made pizza, pasta, salads, and gelatos. The focal point will be the pizza, cooked in a custom-made Fiero Forni gas and wood oven, with Chef Pak blending elements of Neapolitan and New York styles.

The 3,800-square-foot restaurant is slated to open in fall 2024.

Conservatory Galleria: A foodie haven

Houston hospitality veterans Roveen Abante and Chase LoVullo are transforming the Roxy building into Conservatory Galleria, a food hall at 5353 W. Alabama Suite 100. Opening in early 2024, this 12,000+ square foot, three-level space will host more than 10 food vendors and two bars, creating a haven for food enthusiasts.

Bar Bludorn: A classic tavern by Chef Aaron Bludorn

Chef Aaron Bludorn, celebrated for his French-inspired Gulf Coast cuisine at Allen Parkway hotspot Bludorn, is set to open his third venture, Bar Bludorn. Located at 9061 Gaylord Dr. in Hedwig Village, this classic, upscale tavern will be a perfect spot for lunch, dinner, and cocktails. With a discreet 4,900-square-foot space just off I-10, Bar Bludorn promises to be a welcoming haven for patrons looking to savor delectable offerings in an elegant setting.

Cyclone Anaya’s River Oaks: Tex-Mex delights

Cyclone Anaya’s expands its Tex-Mex legacy with a seventh location at 3736 Westheimer Rd. in River Oaks, opening early spring 2024. With a menu boasting jumbo margaritas, enchiladas, sizzling fajitas, and more, this 6,250 square-foot space aims to become a Tex-Mex favorite.

PostScript HTX: The pink flair of Upper Kirby District

Prepare for a burst of color in Houston’s Upper Kirby District with the arrival of PostScript HTX. GAP Concepts, the brainchild of the successful XOXO Dining Room in Dallas, is set to debut this flirty and festive restaurant and lounge at 2800 Kirby Dr. Chef Bryan Caswell will take the helm in the kitchen, complemented by a lively cocktail and champagne program, complete with a ‘Press for Champagne’ doorbell. Anticipated to open its doors in early 2024, PostScript HTX is set to become a vibrant addition to the Shops at Arrive River Oaks.

Local Foods Tanglewood: Fresh flavors arriving early 2024

Local Foods announces a move to prime Galleria-area dining and shopping destination Post Oak Plaza. Closing its current location at 5740 San Felipe on Dec. 23, the new spot at 1707 Post Oak Blvd. will feature an expanded kitchen, a covered patio, and wine by the bottle below retail. The anticipated opening is early 2024.

Maven Coffee & Cocktails: A day-to-night culinary experience

Maven Coffee + Cocktails offers a fusion of coffee, gourmet pastries, and craft cocktails to Silver Street Studios in the Washington Ave., Arts District. Opening in spring 2024, this standalone brick-and-mortar location is set to be a haven for coffee enthusiasts by day and an upscale lounge by night.

Leo’s River Oaks: Elevating fine dining

Culinary Khancepts introduces Leo’s River Oaks, a fine dining establishment nestled in the heart of Houston next to the historic River Oaks Theater. Led by former Underbelly Hospitality chef Tim Reading, Leo’s promises an eloquent twist on fine dining, offering the best in steaks, seafood, and an unmatched wine selection opening in late spring 2024.

Maximo Canteen: Tantalizing tacos await

Replacing El Topo, Maximo Canteen is set to open in spring 2024 at 6119 Edloe St., West University Place. A collaboration between Benjy Levit, Local Foods, Eau Tour, Lee’s Den, and Chef Tony Luhrman, this Mexican concept aims to elevate taco offerings with on-site crafted corn tortillas.

Mayahuel: A culinary journey to Mexico City

Culinary Khancepts joins forces with chefs Luis Robledo and Atzin Santos to introduce Mayahuel, a Mexico City-inspired restaurant and cocktail bar. Opening in spring 2024 at Autry Park on Allen Parkway near Shepherd Drive, Mayahuel celebrates Mexican culture, culinary excellence, and the artistry of agave spirits.
