Help us fill the pantry for families at the Ronald McDonald House

KPRC 2 Community snack drive runs throughout February

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Houston (Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Houston)

Families with hospitalized children have a lot on their minds. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Houston helps those families through challenging times by providing comfort, necessities and a safe place to stay near their children as they receive medical care. RMHC of Greater Houston has been “Keeping Families Close” for more than 40 years.

All month long, KPRC 2 and our Community partners at Energy Transfer, Houston Christian University and Exclusive Furniture will be collecting snacks to help fill the pantry for the Ronald McDonald House’s JoyFULL Eats Meal Program.

The JoyFULL Eats program supports the organization’s four locations, which are Holcombe House, Texas Children’s Hospital, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, and MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital.

Across the four locations, there are more than 110 sleeping rooms and fifteen Family Lounges.

Donations of snack items like crackers, granola bars and more will be graciously accepted at all Exclusive Furniture locations in the Greater Houston area and at Houston Christian University’s campus in Southwest Houston. Donation bins at HCU will be placed in various locations across campus including the M.D. Anderson Student Center, Hinton Center and the Moody Library.

A list of suggested items to donate is below:

Donations may also be made by shopping RMHC of Greater Houston’s online wish lists or by making a tax-deductible monetary contribution.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Houston’s impact is noted on their website: “Each year our Ronald McDonald House programs serve as a home away from home for hundreds of families from around the country and world. In a typical year, we host over 28,000 overnight family stays for more than 1500 families as their children seek essential healthcare. With the help of our generous donors and supporters, we provide more than 250,000 meal and snack servings and help our families save millions in hotel, food and transportation costs annually.”

KPRC 2 and our Community partners at Energy Transfer, Houston Christian University and Exclusive Furniture showcase a different nonprofit organization each month offering Houstonians a helping hand. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Houston is the KPRC 2 Community spotlight for February 2024.
