Tropical Depression Six forms in the Atlantic, but no land threat expected

After a quick development cycle, a cluster of thunderstorms west of the Azores in the Atlantic Ocean has formed into Tropical Depression SIX.

While it is expected that this storm will strengthen into our 6th named storm of the year, FAY, it will stay out in the open water and will be no threat to any land.

As we have seen all tropical season long, our intense El Nino pattern has continued to shred most potential storms up before they can form. We are STILL without our first hurricane of the 2026 season, which is now the record for being the latest we have every gone before a hurricane forming in the Atlantic Basin.
