Ajay believes journalism should work for the community—giving people a voice, bringing their concerns to elected officials and showing that every voice matters. He wants viewers to know they have someone in their corner, willing to go into the field and bring attention to the issues affecting their everyday lives. He joined KPRC 2 as a reporter in July 2026, bringing experience covering major breaking news, severe weather and stories that impact the communities he serves. He began his journalism career at age 14 with an internship at 302 Sports, a Delaware broadcasting company covering high school and collegiate athletics. Although he initially dreamed of a career in sports, Ajay realized he could make a greater impact covering the issues people face every day. He graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia with a degree in Communications. Before joining KPRC 2, Ajay spent two years at LEX 18 News in Lexington, Kentucky. During his time there, he covered stories that drew national attention, including the Kentucky Derby, a mass shooting along Interstate 75, an EF-4 tornado and historic flooding. He was also a finalist for the Kentucky Broadcasters Association’s Rookie of the Year Award. Over his career, one story that really stuck out to Ajay, was his coverage on a deadly bank robbery that left two employees dead. Over the months that followed, he built relationships with both families and focused on the victims’ lives and legacies—not just the facts of the case. He says the families’ willingness to share their grief, and vulnerability gave viewers a deeper way to connect with them. A Delaware native, Ajay is excited to explore Houston’s diverse neighborhoods, food scene and culture. Outside the newsroom, he enjoys working out, playing golf, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. His favorite meal is his mom’s homemade stuffed shells, and he hopes to one day see a World Series parade in Houston.
