Firefighter, resident hurt during apartment fire call in SW Houston

HOUSTON – Firefighters were called to a large apartment fire in southwest Houston Thursday morning.

It’s unclear what caused the fire, but the Houston Fire Department responded to a 2-alarm fire on S Bartell and Hearth Drive near Main Street just before 6 a.m. We’re told 4 apartment units were destroyed while others suffered smoke and water damage.

Several fire trucks were seen at the complex, where HFD said a resident jumped out of his balcony and was injured. He was taken to a hospital in unknown condition. A firefighter also suffered a minor leg injury.
