This year, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, Iowa Colony, TX, will host its inaugural Martin Luther King Jr. parade. The festivities will start at the Iowa Colony Public Building, located at 3144 Meridiana, and will conclude at Freedom Field.
Once at Freedom Field, you are invited to join the community at Alumni Hall for a program featuring singing, dancing, and music. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This will be the first parade dedicated to MLK, making this a celebration of equality, progress, and unity. The community is set to honor Dr. King’s legacy of justice and civil rights that has inspired the community, reflecting his vision for a better future.
The parade will begin in the heart of Iowa Colony, TX, including marching bands, vibrant colored floats, community organizations, cultural performances, and many more.
This event will be open to the public, and everyone in the community and outside is encouraged to join and be a part of history. City Councilwoman Arnetta Murray stated, “For the first time in our 116-year history, we will come together to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a way that reflects the values of justice, equality, and unity that he stood for. This parade is more than an event; it’s a statement of our collective commitment to those ideals.”
