Tropical development chances for system headed toward the Gulf lowered dramatically

HOUSTON – KPRC 2’s Weather team has been monitoring a tropical system headed toward the Gulf, but the National Hurricane Center has dramatically lowered the chance of any development.

Potential tropical development in the Gulf may still bring rain and flooding

At this point, the development chances of a tropical depression or named storm (Dexter) lowered to 10 percent!

This is a great change compared to just a few days ago it was at 40 percent.

However, heavy rain remains a strong possibility across Louisiana, but less likely in Southeast Texas. If anything, it will be a pretty drab day with overcast skies and showers, but any flood threats have greatly decreased.

The primary risk at this stage is heavy rainfall, especially as the disturbance heads inland or organizes further. The main impact day for Houston and SE Texas will be Friday.
