Two killed after vehicle flies off freeway, crashes into hotel

HOUSTON – Two people are dead after a sedan crashed into a hotel in north Harris County.

The crash happened around 1:45 a.m. Monday on the North Freeway near the Super 8 Hotel close to North Vista Drive, authorities said.

“The guy went off the road and crashed right into the hotel,” said witness Chris young.

The vehicle caught fire following the impact, and the hotel had to be evacuated according to witnesses.

When firefighters arrived, they immediately called for backup since the flaming vehicle ended up almost completely inside the hotel, authorities said. Firefighters were able to put out the blaze.

“Once they actually got (the fire) put out, we could see the back portion of the vehicle that was actually in the lobby,” said Young.

Two people were declared dead at the scene. Witnesses said they were both inside the sedan.

“It makes it weigh on you in a heavy kind of way knowing that somebody died here.,” said another witness.
