Complaints of strange-smelling water across Houston area after boil water notice lifted
HOUSTON โ Roughly a week after the cold weather first arrived in Houston, the water service is back but some people are reporting a different smell. โThe water, when it comes out, just has a funny smell almost like metal,โ Lindsey Rockoff said over the phone. The Houston resident said she first noticed the smell a few days ago, after the boil water notice was lifted, even though she doesnโt have metal pipes at home. Another man emailed KPRC 2 and wrote, โmy water smells fishy,โ while some social media posts described the smell like bleach. Lake Jackson residents asked to conserve water usage as โBoil waterโ notice remains
HOUSTON โ The city of Lake Jackson said the โBoil waterโ notice could remain in place for another two weeks following the discovery of a potentially deadly amoeba in the water system. โWeโre trying to get out of our boil water notice,โ said city manager Modesto Mundo. To complete the latest process, Mundo is asking water customers to conserve. โWe need the cooperation of everybody in our community and our businesses to lower the water usage as much as possible for outside water usage,โ he said. The boil water notice impacts thousands of customers, including Sandra Crumrine.

HOUSTON โ Houston bars and restaurants are taking steps to stay open amid a mandatory boil water notice. Kingwood and Clear Lake are excluded from the boil water notice. The state requires cities to issue boil water notices when the water pressure drops and harmful bacteria and microbes can form, which is the case in Houston. DโAmicoโs Italian Market Cafรฉ in Rice Village ran out of bottled water Friday night, said owner Brina DโAmico. Starbucks in Rice Village is only serving bottled water and pre-packaged food items.
