“When I heard New Kids on The Block, I lost my mind,” Julie Syers said. “If you heard a shriek somewhere from wherever you were standing, that was me!”

Bun B took the stage and surprised guests at the lineup reveal party.

“If you didn’t do country western music, this wasn’t even something you could necessarily aspire to 20, 30 years ago,” he said in an interview with KPRC 2. “Times have changed and the rodeo is moving with that change ... I’m glad to be a living breathing representation of that.”

The 20-day star-studded lineup requires team coordination months in advance. Artists are usually excited at the opportunity to perform at such a signature event, organizers said.

“You’re trying to work our calendar with the artist’s calendar, and that’s always a moving target,” said Jason Kane, Rodeo Director of Entertainment and Concert Production. “We’ve got a great focus on country, particularly Texas.”
