Baytown man shot while grilling in park; search for suspects underway

BAYTOWN, Texas – A Baytown man was shot and airlifted to a hospital Tuesday night after an argument at a local park escalated into gunfire, according to radio transmissions.

The shooting happened at 10 p.m. at 1502 Nolan Road.

The victim, described by a neighbor as a man in his late 60s, was barbecuing in the park when two teenagers began arguing with him. The dispute quickly turned violent.

The man was treated for a gunshot wound to the abdomen at the scene before being life-flighted to an area hospital. His current condition is unknown.

No other injuries were reported.

A Baytown Police K-9 unit attempted to track the suspect, but no suspect was found.

Crime Scene Investigators and Detectives responded to the scene and are actively investigating the incident. This investigation remains ongoing.
