KATY, Texas – Thousands of customers experienced power outages Wednesday morning, according to CenterPoint Energy’s outage map.
At one point, the outage map showed more than 30,000 customers without power.

The ZIP codes with the highest number of outages were:
- 77450: About 13,000 outages
- 77094: About 10,000 outages
- 77449: About 3,500 outages
- 77494: About 3,000 outages
All of the hardest-hit ZIP codes are in and around the Katy area. The number of outages continued to decline Wednesday morning.
CenterPoint told KPRC 2 power was restored as of 10:40 a.m. The problem was due to a transmission issue.
CenterPoint Energy released the following statement:
“CenterPoint Energy is committed to delivering reliable and safe electricity to all customers we are privileged to serve throughout the Greater Houston area.
“This morning at approximately 9:45 a.m., an equipment issue caused an outage affecting approximately 30,000 customers in the Katy area. Our crews immediately took action to restore power to all impacted customers by 10:40 a.m. We understand how frustrating and disruptive any interruption in service can be for our customers, and we sincerely regret the inconvenience this outage may have caused.”
