HOUSTON – A suspect was shot by a Houston police officer Monday night after officers investigated a stolen vehicle in west Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The shooting happened around 8 p.m. in the 4100 block of Westheimer Road.
Police said a patrol officer ran the license plate on a black sedan, which was found to be associated with a stolen vehicle out of Fort Bend County.
According to HPD, officers made repeated commands for the driver to get out of the vehicle. Police said the suspect remained inside for about 25 minutes and refused to comply.

Police said the suspect is expected to survive. No officers were injured.
Witnesses near the scene reported hearing several gunshots.
The officers involved have not been identified.
As with all officer-involved shootings, the incident is under investigation by HPD’s Internal Affairs Division and the department’s Special Investigations Unit.
