Witnesses said the man driving the car was not wearing his seatbelt, he was ejected from the car and died at the scene.

They said dash camera footage confirmed the 18-wheeler driver ran a red light before the crash.

“According to the driver of the commercial motor vehicle, he stated that he had the yellow light. Further investigation once we reviewed the dash camera of the commercial motor vehicle, we later found that he had the red light the whole time. He never had the yellow light,” said Deputy Investigator Chacon.

Chacon said the 18-wheeler driver may have been blinded by another set of nearby traffic lights and he didn’t show signs of intoxication

It was unknown what charges the driver would face.
