HOUSTON – A Houston animal rescue group is asking for the community’s help after one of its most vital transport vans was totaled in a crash late Friday night.
The organization said that its drivers are safe and no animals were on board at the time of the crash.

“We are grateful for that,” the post read. “But the van is a complete loss.”
The wrecked van wasn’t just any vehicle -- it was the most reliable in the group’s five-van fleet, making weekly trips from Houston to northern rescue partners—sometimes twice a week—carrying dogs and cats who had run out of time at the city shelter.
“It never sat still for long. It was the workhorse of our program. And now it’s gone.”
According to the rescue group, the accident happened when the van collided with a disabled, unlit vehicle left in the middle of the road. They said the crash was unavoidable, and the damage was beyond repair.
The organization says replacing the van quickly is critical to keep up with weekly transports.
“We can’t afford delays, not when lives are on the line,” the post read.
The group is now urgently seeking donations to help purchase a new van and resume their life-saving work. Community members can contribute via the following methods:

“Your support keeps our mission moving forward—literally,” the group said. “We are counting on our community to help us get back behind the wheel and continue the life-saving work this van made possible every single week. Please share and donate if you are able!”
