ATASCOCITA, Texas – Investigators in NE Harris County say a 14-year-old lost his life after his younger sibling “was playing with a rifle” and accidentally shot him in the Fourth of July overnight hours.

According to Lt. Alanis with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred sometime after midnight at a home on Gianna Springs in Atascocita.
Deputies said they found the unidentified 14-year-old boy dead from a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, an investigation revealed the younger sibling was playing with a rifle and accidentally shot the teen.
HCSO also tells KPRC 2 that several firearms were recovered inside the home.
