Suspects drive U-Haul truck through front of W. Houston Walgreens, attempt to steal ATM machine

HOUSTON – Houston Police are looking for several suspects they say drove a U-Haul truck through the front door of a Walgreens store on the city’s west side early Tuesday morning in an attempt to steal an ATM machine.

It happened around 4:25 a.m. at the Walgreens located in the 9600 block of Westheimer.

KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry went out to the store and noticed the front of the store was smashed in from the impact of the truck.

Police say there was damage to an ATM machine inside the store. A chain and a rope were also attached to it, evidence that the suspects had tried to drag it out of the store.

Police believe there were either three or four suspects. They were wearing black ski masks and by the time police arrived they were gone.

Right now, no one is in custody. The inside of the store also appears to be closed as people are lined up in the drive-thru line to pick up prescriptions.
