Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo to address COVID-19 during Commissioner’s Court

HOUSTON – Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo discussed the coronavirus pandemic during Tuesday’s Commissioner’s Court meeting.

Hidalgo addressed the county’s response to the pandemic and possible actions regarding the virus.

She said the county’s threat level remains at red. Hidalgo said Harris County has some pretty significant downward trends, however, the positivity rate is around 9% but needs to get down to 5%.

“The thing that we wanna be cautious of is where the base that we’re hitting. So the cases went back up and now they’ve gone back down. But the base that we’re hitting is still slightly above the previous base that we hit before the other peak we had in December,” Hidalgo said.

She said she is not planning to move the threat level to orange just yet.
