HCSO: Man, child killed while trying to cross North Freeway at Cypresswood

HOUSTON – A man and a child were killed attempting to cross North Freeway on foot, according to Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The double fatality occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday near North Freeway at Cypresswood.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales said the man, 32, struck a concrete wall with his vehicle in the 19000 block of the North Freeway. He and a a 4-year-old child exited the vehicle and attempted to cross the main lanes of the freeway on foot when a 2007 Toyota Camry traveling southbound struck the pair, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Both the man and child were declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Camry remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The case remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
