Galveston County probation officer faces slew of charges after sexual assault accusation

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas – A Galveston County probation officer was arrested Friday for multiple warrants after being accused of using his job to sexually assault women, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.

Eric Alzafari, 42, was arrested at his Pearland home Friday after being charged with seven counts of official oppression, two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual contact/intercourse with supervised persons.

Alzafari, who has been a probation officer in the county for 7 years, became the focus of a large-scale investigation after the Galveston County Community Supervision and Corrections Department received complaints about him.

The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office was notified of the complaints and referred the investigation to the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigation Division.

“It appears he had inappropriate relations with at least three, so far, of his probationers. Female probationers,” said Sheriff Henry Trochesset.

The Galveston County probation department suspended and then fired Alzafari.

He remains in custody on $95,000 bond.
