Video shows officer takedown of murder suspect

Jason Rohrer shot four times by stun guns before arrest

ORLANDO, Fla. – Body camera video shows the great lengths it took for Orlando police to subdue a man accused of murdering a woman in her Orange County home.

Officers responded to Linda Jones' home on Orange Peel Court on May 30. Neighbors called to complain a man was trying to break into several homes. One neighbor told police she heard a woman inside Jones' home screaming for someone to get off of her. Video obtained by News 6 shows Orange County sheriff's search helicopter first seeing a man running from Jones' home.

On the ground, Orlando police body camera footage shows officers running after him, cornering him between two homes and a fence. "Get on your back! Get on your back now!" the officers are heard yelling at the suspect.  He had been shot twice by police stun guns and his back was bleeding.

The suspect, later identified as Jason Rohrer, 41, told investigators he was stabbed in the back by the woman who lives in the home during a knife fight. Rohrer can be heard in the body camera footage saying, "I'm dying." Despite that, he fights off the police handcuffs and tries to run away.

The footage shows police fire their stun gun a third time, but Rohrer keeps running. A fourth shot brings the man down, groaning. "Don't let me die!" Rohrer is heard yelling.  "I'm sorry!  I'm sorry!" Police lead Rohrer to the front yard where he's transported to the hospital and later released to the Orange County Jail. Jones, the homeowner, was found dead inside her home.

The Office of the State Attorney filed second-degree murder charges against Rohrer, and his trial is tentatively set for Oct. 17. He's being held in the Orange County Jail without bond.
